Boardmasters are proud to be a strong supporter of Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) over the last 10 years, but this year was more special than normal. This year the Global Wave Conference took place in Cornwall & London in October. Surfers Against Sewage brought the international event to the UK for the first time with unprecedented gathering of the world’s most respected surfers, environmentalists, sustainable business leaders, grassroots activists, campaigners and marine experts. The focus was on the protection of waves, oceans, beaches, wildlife and surf habitats worldwide.
Hugo Tagholm, Chief executive of Surfers Against Sewage, had this to say;
"Surfers Against Sewage is delighted to have been the nominated charity of the Boardmasters for over a decade and we look forward to continuing to work together to promote the protection of waves, oceans and beaches well into the future. The Boardmasters is held at one of the country’s premier sites of special surfing interest (SSSI) - Fistral beach in Newquay - which is just a stone’s throw from SAS HQ. It offers us an unrivalled opportunity to talk to hundreds of thousands of individuals about our environmental campaigns & conservation initiatives on marine litter, water quality and protecting the coastline right around the UK. Surfers Against Sewage is the charity representing the environmental concerns of the UK surfing community with over 75 Regional Chapters in all major surfing areas helping inspire over 15,000 volunteers every year. Take action today and join the movement!”
